THE ACT II PROJECT
Powered by Black Women in Film, Inc.
“Where your vision meets your village—and your next chapter begins.”
The Act II Project is a bold production initiative powered by Black Women in Film Inc., designed to greenlight the visions of Black women entering the film and media industry later in life.
We don’t offer mentorship. We offer opportunity. Through this initiative, one visionary filmmaker is selected to receive full-scale production support to write, direct, and bring her story to life—with our studio, our crew, and our resources behind her.
This is more than access—it’s action.
Each cycle of the Act II Project results in an original short film or visual piece led by a second-act filmmaker and produced by Act II Studios, our creative studio arm. From development to distribution, we work alongside our selected creator to ensure her story makes it from the page to the screen—and into the world.
Because dreams don’t expire. They evolve.
Welcome to your Act II
The Act II Media Fund
Powered by Black Women in Film, Inc.
The Act II Media Fund supports the platforms that amplify us. This fund provides financial support to media outlets, indie theaters, podcasts, festivals, and public broadcasters committed to uplifting stories by and about Black women—especially those reclaiming their voice in their second act.
From licensing short films to sponsoring live screenings and radio storytelling, we invest in the visibility and reach of Black creatives across the media landscape. Whether it's an NPR segment, an indie filmmaker showcase, or a stage play written by a new voice, we help get it seen, heard, and felt.
We fund the platforms. We amplify the stories. We move the culture.
